On the one hand, the Explorer can act as a high-end AC1200-class Wi-Fi router in all scenarios where USB functionality and Ethernet speeds above 100Mbps are not required. On the other hand, the manual router/extender mode switch makes it an ideal Wi-Fi extender in a Wi-Fi system, extending coverage via Ethernet cable or mesh Wi-Fi connections.
